Day 134: Why So Curious?

Today was my first class as a facilitator with the internship. I spent most of the day getting prepared for it since it was in the afternoon. I had already done most of the prep, so today was mostly about getting my area organized and keeping my nerves settled, which was not easy. I used music, motivational videos, and encouragement from friends who knew what was going on to help me stay steady. It meant a lot to have people check on me and cheer me on, especially since this felt like a big step.

The class was about curiosity and how it helps keep the brain healthy and happy as we age… and honestly, how fitting. Curiosity has been showing up everywhere lately. In the class. In my work. In the people reaching out to me. In the messages I have been receiving. In the way I am learning to ask better questions about myself, about others, and about the rooms I keep entering.

I was nervous, but everyone was so nice and understanding. I received praise and helpful feedback, and they said they could not wait for next week’s discussion. So, I would say that is a win. A big one. It made me feel relieved about what is coming next. This experience will give me so much to learn, and I know that what I gain from it will help me with the work I am building for the collective future. This work has continuously changed and evolved over time, but I know it is heading in the right direction, even if it has felt slow. Sometimes slow is better. It means I have more time to notice the details… and the details matter…

Quiet Part Day 134: The path is getting louder, but I am getting clearer. Attention may increase, but my boundaries have to rise with it. More visibility means I have to protect the parts of me that are still learning how to breathe. I want to be close to people who stay curious enough to grow, not people who only get curious when they want access.
